RAZOR BUMPS- Pseudofillicultis Barbae is a medical term for persistent irritation caused by shaving. Once cut, hair begins to grow back immediately. Curly hair has a tendency to grow or curl back into or under the skin instead of straight out of the follicle, leading to an inflammation reaction. Dermatologic studies indicate 80% of men of African, Mediterranean, Jewish, or Latino descent suffer from the painful and sometimes embarrassing effects of Razor Bumps.

Q1: Will, What's your shave ritual?

Shaving is a three step process for me. I prep my face for the shave by gently cleansing, follow that up with a great lather and shave, and finish off with a moisturizing after shave. This process takes me all of about eight to ten minutes. The actual shave takes place for me in the shower. That way, my skin is moist and relaxed and ready for the shave. Shaving in the shower also solves the clean up problem for me as well.

Q2: What separates Bump Patrol shave products from all others?

Simply stated, "We're tough on bumps, and easy on your skin." In practice, all Bump Patrol products are barber tested and approved. That means professional barbers use the product and provide us with valuable feedback long before it ever reaches the consumer. We also work with dermatologists to certify the science of skin and shave are exact so Bump Patrol is safe and effective for all types of skin on all types of men.

Finally we have fanatical customer support for our product. Customers can call, email us or contact us through our website should they ever have questions or concerns regarding any Bump Patrol product. We guarantee our product works! In as little as 48 hours you'll see a difference.

Q3: So how exactly does Bump Patrol work?

Bump Patrol puts you in a position to shave everyday without worry of razor bumps or burns. The bumps that mar most men's beard or neck are inflamed hair follicles caused by shaving irritation. Our products work immediately to reduce skin inflammation, prevent infection and hydrate your skin. Bump Patrol not only heals and soothes existing razor bump, but also helps to prevent them.

By the way, proper shave technique helps prevent irritation as well. Our website (www.bumppatrol.com) provides great information on how to improve your technique and achieve a close shave while minimizing razor bumps.

Q4: Tell us about your trip to Aftrica for bump patrol?

I traveled to Western Africa, to Guinea, Ghana, and Senegal on behalf of bump patrol and M&M Products. My primary purpose there is to educate barbers about the benefits of bump patrol products, but I also carry the message of peace and brotherhood.

Q5: So you visit professional barbers and spread the shave. Are you in big cities or small towns?
Both. I'm in all types of neighborhoods in Africa when I travel. Most areas remind me of the US or Europe, except those without regular electricity or potable water. In these areas barbers use precious little bottled water for their shave and work primarily during the day.

In larger cities where barbering flourishes, men will visit their barber for a daily straight razor shave. The service is remarkably quick and precise, and may only cost the equivilent of a dollar US.

Q6: Is there more than one barber per city or village?
Oh goodness yes, I've seen streets filled with 6 or 7 barbers sometimes stacked on top of each other in multiple storied buildings.

Q7: Wow, any other cultural differences in US vs. African Shave?
Most definitely. Because barbers are so prolific and inexpensive, most Africa men don't shave at home. In fact they may not even own a razor. Their first and perhaps last shave in life will most likely be at their barber.

Q8: Any shave advice for our readers?

A good shave begins with good preparation. You know, cleansing the face, getting it warmed up with water, ready for the shave. I highly recommend shaving in the shower. The hot water relaxes your facial muscles, softens your beard, and preps it for shaving. Plus it's faster and easier to clean up. Next, learn to shave with the grain of your beard. This goes a long way in preventing unnecessary irritation and possible razor bumps. Finally don't forget to proactively moisturize your face after shaving. Especially during winter months when dry air robs your skin of humidity.
