Weleda’s roots go back to 1921 and something called anthroposophy or an understanding that a human body has a remarkable ability to heal itself, but sometimes needs a little help. The company’s name couldn’t be more appropriate: Weleda, after the Celtic goddess of wisdom and healing. Founded in Switzerland, Weleda  has offices and partnerships in more than 50 countries.

Their mission isn’t just to recognize beauty, but to actively cultivate it. Weleda was an early pioneer of Biodynamic® farming methods (whenever possible, grow ingredients they use in their products) and  has developed fair trade partnerships for a more positive impact on the world.

Bottom Line:  Being or acting "green" is nothing new to Weleda. However they continue to outpace all others when it comes to remaining green. For example Weleda established an entire Environmemtal Management System over 12 yeas ago to ensure it's entire operations were held accountable to a higher environmental standar. Weleda also believes natural ingredients truly provide what a body needs to be vibrant, beautiful and well.  So how does all that “greenness” help your shave regiment?

This stuff is good for your face AND the environment!

Weleda's Shave Cream comes in a metal tube, reminiscent of your father's old crinkled up shave tubes. All comparisons stop here. Weleda's cream consistency is smooth, silky and well creamy. The scent is fairly neutral, but has a touch of freshness to it. Probably attributable to the touch of Sweet Almond extract present.

Applicatin: This shave cream is NOT for brushes. With no soap agent present, the cream should be applied directly to your face sans brush. (Remember soap agents are not kind to dry or sensitive skin.) Sorry old school badger brush shavers, you'll have to get your hands wet to lather and shave with this cream. The creamy feel and mild scent of the product just smacks of freshnes and good. Incredibly mild to both touch and smell.

Performance: Little dab will do you. The glycerin helps for glide and prevents any chance of razor burn. I shaved both with and against the grain of my stubble without any irritation or burn. Afterwards, the cream rinsed without leftover residue or strong scent. I can't emphasize enough how mild this product is.
